This blog is simply a random mess of my journal, rants, poetry, personal thoughts and things I like...and unless noted, all my original writing (no copy without permission, s'il vous plait).
I changed the name to Lost Kite from honkycackle because these days I feel more like the former than the latter.

American Sentence for the day
The most southern thing I like to say is "dadgummit!" (and I mean it)

That's like juicy bait just dangling out there for me, Holly. HA! HA! My vernacular is a mixture of waterman (British origins), the sandhills of my mother's people, and the piedmont hills of my father's.
When I take my daughter back home, she can't understand the language. I practiced whitewashing it to fit into society when I went to college, and now I really regret doing that. Now I'm proud of it.
Okay, enough about me. Are you from Georgia? How about "right?" That's right purty. Or right smart purty. I know those, too:)
I was born in Alabamee, raised in Tennersee...back to Alabamee for college, and then picked up some of the boring "no-dialect-I-sound-like-a-national-news-anchor" of Colorado, then went to the Appalachians of North Cackalacky...the best dialect ever... yes, Scot, like you'ns! Then down here to old Georgy! The south is much funner, really. Is it just me?
You're so right, Holly. Also rich in culture, heritage, literature, universities, etc. Alabama and Tennessee are beautiful! I should have known you'd be from a lovely place.
I've never heard anybody say you'ns, though. Y'all is the word of choice around my house. Talk to you soon, I'm sure:)
P.S. - Flannery O'Connor is THE greatest writer to ever walk the face of the earth. Plus, she taught a chicken how to walk backwards. How cool is that?
